Hello all, I've been looking around for a sub for some time, and have come down to 2 possibilites. The MFW 15 from av123.com or the vtf2 mk3 from hsu. However, both are out of stock right now it seems :(

I also have a question about how I will hook up the 2.3 if I do indeed decide to purchase it (I am leaning towards it right now because of all the positive reviews) Currently I am using a 0404 usb as a source, and some m-audio bx8as as my mains. This is a computer setup, so I don't have dedicated HT equipment. The 0404 usb has a 1/8 out that is parallel to its trs outs so I could use that as a line out for a sub; but where would I connect it on the 2.3?

Thanks for your replies, Andrew.

Hi Andrew,

I have a VTF2 Mk3 right now and have also listened to a Cherry MFW-15 in my room, too. For my setup, I liked the VTF 2.3 better. The MFW-15 is capable of more output, but I don't need the extra output for my listening.

I almost purchased a EMU 0404 USB, but went with a Tascam US-122L instead. You can get a 1/8" mini to RCA stereo cable to use with the 0404 USB. Connect the two RCA ends into the RCA inputs on the VTF (the manual only shows a subwoofer input, but there is another input on mine for the other channel). Make sure the crossover is set to IN and turn the crossover dial to a frequency that blends with your mains.

Thanks for your reply.

Can anyone comment on the scheduled availability of the 2.3?

It will probably be a few more weeks until the VTF-2 MK3 is back in stock. Note that the upcoming batch of VTF-2 MK3 will have completely new finish options to match the new HB-1 MK2 and HC-1 MK2 (so the base finish will be a painted black finish, and we will have real wood rosenut/espresso/maple veneer options as well).

Haven't you noticed that everything is going up in price?

Well how much crude oil goes into making a subwoofer?:D

I was lucky. I think I ordered mine just a day or two before the price increase.

I just received it last night, and I am a very happy man. :)

Hi all,

The price went up on VTF-2 MK3 because the next batch will have a much higher (and more expensive) standard finish option that is a true painted black finish (instead of black vinyl). We will also have three different wood veneer finishes (rosenut, espresso, maple) for $100 extra.

Sincerely,
