Plugged it in, and used the receiver's auto setup for now.
:D :D :D :D
It's awesome! Can't wait to switch the two subs and see/feel the difference. One very noticable difference is the volume control. On the STF3 you barely moved the knob, while the STF2 is almost half way up. My listening room is very different from my girlfriend's but still. I'll see what happens when the STF2 is here.
Dr. Hsu & Sasha - You guys are great!!
This version of the STF3 is very much like the VTF3 (first impression).
Thanks for getting me excited. :)

Enjoy that monster. Even when I knew the dimensions it seemed bigger once it got put in the room!
BTW: Probably time to take down the Christmas lights, eh? :)
Enjoy!

tdekany,
Are you getting a STF-2 also? If so I would really appreciate your thoughts on the two. I have a STF-2 (within 30 days) now but have been "wondering" if I should spend the extra money for the STF-3.:) I am very impressed with the STF-2 and haven't really had the chance to push it too much (apartment) but I am trying to think long-time here. Whatever thoughts or advice you have would be great.;)
Thanks for your time!
Dustin
**********EDIT
I'm assuming you got one of the early max extension versions? That is the one I would be interested in!
Thanks,
Dustin

I have a STF2 already at my girlfriend's house that is coming back with me tonight. I'll post tomorrow or maybe even tonight and let you know what I think.

I would be interested in the diff as well. I am deciding between the two, and not much time left for ME.

Ok - I only used the receiver's auto setup in my room.
The STF3's volume was barely on, while the STF2's is about 1/3
I used Fifth Element as a reference last night with the STF3 and just now with the STF2. All I can say is this: the STF2 is f..ing amazing!!!!! With this movie in this room, I couldn't tell the difference.
However, in my girlfriend's much larger room the STF3 had more authority Even though I just plugged in the STF3 so things will get even better. It is a tuff call. I guess if you listen to organ music the STF3 with its Max Ext. will win hands down or if you have a large listening room. But I am also a bass freak with 2 12" Hsu subs in my car so your taste and need for quantity may differ from mine.
Originally, I was going to get another STF2 for myself but because the STF3 was offered in Max Ext - I just had to have it!
I mean $599.00? It is better then a "steal". In max Output mode personally I would have saved the $200.00 & gone with the STF2.
I hope I helped you make an easier decision.

Thanks, that does help. I do have a larger room, but the times when I can truely turn the volume up will be so rare, I may not need the extra oomph of the 3 (although I would still love to have one).

the STF2 is a wonderful product and will give you more then enough quality bass. after rereading my post from last night, I have to say that the STF2 has planty of authority!!!!!!!!!!!
Even in the much larger room it produced more then enough bass for most anyone.
