Has anyone had a chance to listen to the new HB-1 and HC-1 in their home yet? I'd really like to hear what you think. Thanks....Ted.

I have two friends here in Puerto Rico that have them, 1 with the MK1...The speakers are in 2.6,4.5,.982 cufeet rooms.
Have heard the 3 systems a lot...

We all three agree that the MK2 are excellent at their price point. No flaws worthy of mentioning.Period. We have not heard any speaker at the package price which are better sounding...And the new finish is awesome looking!

They image excellent, have good 3 dimensionality, good dynamics, very flat, and they can play very very loud....The center channel sounds great, not like many others that seems like the actor speaking in the movie is inside a box talking..
We have pushed the speakers very very hard(97db-98db spl meter) and have not heard distortion at all and we are feeding them with just an Onkyo TX-SR605 with 90wrms@.08thd 2 channels driven + VTF2.3.jejeje So they are pretty darn good.

They have invited several people to their houses to heard them(about 6-7 persons), the ones that think that BOSE is the best...JAJAJA, and all said they never thought that kind of performance was available or possible for the price...

Cacimar,

How do they sound compared to the Beta 50 setup I see in your signature.

Cacimar,

How do they sound compared to the Beta 50 setup I see in your signature.

Well the Betas are very very biggggggggg...They take a lot of space, and I don't love the finish(You can see the MDF at some corners), but...

OK...Infinity Beta setup cost me ~ $2,100 = Beta 50 $500 each+ $379 center+ 349 each surround speaker+ PR tax.HB-1 MK2 = 149x4= $600 + HC-1 MK2 = $279... So total cost for HSU was $875

They have a lot of things in common (sound wise)...

For music I have to give the edge to the HB-1 MK2...They image better than the Betas...You feel the voices of the singers closer than you, more detail in the voice, and a little more natural...
For movies... Since I enjoy more hot or crisper-type speakers than flat speakers for movies, I would say I have to give the nod to the Beta setup but not by much though... Not to compensate the 2x price they have over the HSU.

If I had the money now and no speakers... I will definately go with the HSU.

I've had mine for a couple of months now. Before, I had the Ventriloquist system and the VTF-2 sub. I'm very, very happy with the new speakers. In the back channels, they don't call attention to themselves but instead blend in very nicely with each other unless called out. I got the extra two speakers for 7.1 and am enjoying BD movies like The Golden Compass and The Orphanage. I can't wait for more movies that are mixed with the two extra back channels. That is what I've been waiting for for years. Oh, I purchased the Enthusiast 2 system from HSU.
