I'm new to home theater and speaker terminology, so please bear with me.

I just received my VTF-2 today and just finished unpacking it. I have set up my sub according to Dr Hsu. I know I need to calibrate it and set it up better than myself but I have a general question. The port (the hole on one side???) is pointed directly at a wall, and is only about 5 or 6 inches away from it. Should I point that more towards the center of the room or the listening area? Does it even matter what direction it points? I have a love seat that MUST be placed in front of the sub (not blocking the hole or the thing on the other side), is this ok? Will this affect my listening pleasure?

Again, sorry for the incorrect terminology. I am new to this but hope to learn quickly. I do know that I have a great product from the months of research I did on the subject. Thanks.

Pointing to the wall should be fine, in fact it is preferable to be near a corner, as long as you are more than 3-4 inches from the wall. The love seat should not effect anything.

I thought maybe I had the port pointed incorrectly, or had the loveseat too close to the sub because I wasn't getting anything out of the sub.

I thought I had my receiver configured correctly but I didn't. I changed one option and the sub turned on like magic, it brought a smile to my face :) I had the volume turned down really low but can tell this thing can rock my room if need be. My fiance came rushing in to tell me to turn it down, I was going to wake up the neighbors (i live in a townhouse). I can't wait til the weekend...I'll be watching a lot of my favorite DVDs.

Thanks again for your insight, and thanks to Hsu Research for a great sub.

Pointing the port it at the wall might tend to emphasize the deeper bass a bit, but in the end it depends on your room's acoustics. So, I wouldn't say it doesn't make a big difference either way.
