Both of these are at the lower end of their respective companies, but both are well regarded. Currently I have an Energy 8", so I assume eiher will be a major improvement. Any opinions on which one sounds better. I do have a decent unused receiver to which i can connect the SVS.

Any opinions?

I would vote for the STF2.

BTW, and trust me when I say this: there is no lower end when it comes to HSU subs. The best spent money in audio.

No matter what model you would choose, you would get an exceptional product. The only difference is: different size woofer and power. No short cuts.

The STF-2 comes with a 200 Watt BASH amp.
The CS25-31 is passive. (no amp)

STF-2 is certainly much less expensive, even the STF-3 is about the same, and it has an amp.

Actually, they are about the same price: both under $400.

I stand corrected, I was thinking of the Pci @ $ 549, which actually does have an amp.

Sorry, we don't want to invite any comparisons between that brand and ours on our forum. We don't like mentioning their name because of undisclosed behavior on their part.
