Last night while watching Transformers 2 i noticed at the very begining during the paramount logo my sub would make a loud vibrating sound, when i turned down the volume it would go away.

This was while running in extension mode with the port plug in.

The settings are set using Adyssee so the level shouldnt be too loud for the sub. The volume knob is set to about 10~11 o-clock and the receiver sub volume is at -4.5db main volume at -5db

Im using an Onkyo rc180 (basically same as nr-807)

the sub plays good an loud so I dont really understand why its making this noise becuase its not a paticurally loud part of the movie.

The sub is sitting on tile but I dont believe this has anything to do with it.

When i have the volume lower, and its not making that noise, its still loud enough that it produces good bass, I just like running it a bit hotter becuase it sounds better with music.

Someone at AVS suggested i might have the amp volume too high, i turned it down and pushed the the sub level on the receiver up but that still didnt help, i might be running it too high overall, i measured it at 77db at the listening position..should i lower it to 75db?

it dosent seem to do it in max output mode...
