I'm starting to finalize my shopping list for what I would say is more of a general use/family room 5.1 HT setup (my first time).

After some research, I'm considering Hsu speakers. Specifically, the subwoofer, center channel, and left/right portion from the Enthusiast 3 (http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/enthusiast3.html).

My question is this: I pre-wired my family room for left/right ceiling speakers... my understanding is that it's best to stick with speakers from the same manufacturer. But, would I be ok with the following setup?

1 VTF-3 MK 3 Subwoofer (http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/vtf-3-mk3.html)
2 HB-1 MK2 Horn Bookshelf (http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/hb-1.html)
1 HC-1 MK2 Horn Center Channel (http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/hc-1.html)
2 ceiling speakers for the back L/R? If so, what would be some good options (budget ~$150 per speaker)?

Hi Clay,

You can certainly use in-ceiling speakers for surround speakers. It is not critical that the surround speakers be identical or match with the front. If you can accomodate two HIW-1 to use as in-ceiling surround speakers, that would work great and will fit your budget too. Set up the speakers in the ceiling so that the horn tweeter is closer to your ear than the 6.5" diameter woofer is.

Sincerely,
