I decided I liked the sound from the Yamaha receiver the best and I bought it for Movies 70% music 30%. There seems to be a fair consensus in forums that UL-15 subwoofer is about the best you can get for the money. But I went thru the product website and saw a recommendation for Harmon Kardon or Onkyo A/V receivers because of the crossover precision they have.

1st: Is the UL-15 subwoofer a mismatch with my Yamaha? Is there some other truth I should know?

2nd: I need 5 bookshelf speakers. Should I just buy 2 Sierra 1's and wait for 2-3 years for more $$ or buy the 5 HB1's now? The following could be a big factor. I'm older than dirt and my hearing is not what it used to be in the 60's when I listened to psy rock with my NAD's. (I wonder why.)

The ULS will not be a mismatch with the Yamaha, I am sure they will play fine together if you set them up right. As for the Sierra's vs the HB-1's, only you could be the judge of that. I am sure you would enjoy either system, and since you get a discount on the Hsu speakers when you buy a speaker/sub package, that's probably how I would go. However, I believe that both companies have a 30 day full refund return policy so why not try them both and keep the ones you think will fit you the best.
