VT-12 with 4 channel setup?

I don't yet have a 5.1 or 6.1 receiver.
In the interim, can I hook up the matrixed rear to the rear L/R channels or should I just leave it off?

I guess you have an old Pro Logic system, where the two rear speakers are all mono.

Might as well wire for all three rear satellites while you are wiring.

What would be the impedance on the rear center? The receiver recommends 8-16 Ohms/channel.
