I was just wondering....in the demo room at Hsu Research, does Dr. Hsu usually have the VTF-3 setup maximum output or maximum extension?
thanks,

Usually it is in maximum output, but right now at this very moment it is set to maximum extension. In other words, the VTF-3 in our demo room usually has both ports open to take advantage of the VTF-3s special high output mode.

I wonder what mode it was in when I was there.

I'm not sure Dr. Hsu keeps track of it, but when where you over?

March 26th or 27th....you probably have my invoice there. I bought the last set of CBM-170's you had.

Dr. Hsu says it was probably in max output mode.

I think what I'm going to end up doing is setting up with the receiver and SPL meter in maximum extension, and then pulling the plug out and flipping the switch to maximum output when I watch a movie.

The maximum output mode creates a higher output capacity when the whole system is cranked up, with less distortion at the very loud points in the movie. Just switching the switch should not change the bass level significantly. It should be just a little louder, not a significant amount though. In most situations, setting the volume level for music while in max extension mode is the best way to go.

yeah...I find if set the level to 75db with the SPL, and then put it in max output mode, it increases only a db or two.
