There is only 1 preset crossover on the hk avr225 when using "small" settings on the speakers plus a sub. The crossover is 100. Is this compatable with the range of settings on the stf-2 (the image I see when I enlarge the amp settings online looks like the max cutoff is 90)? After reading all the great reviews on your product (and being referred to you by a competing manufacturer) I am really getting the bug to check out/buy your product. I might even consider purchasing another receiver, but as I am otherwise satisfied with the hk225 I'd like to avoid it if possible.

with proper sub placement (behind you) you will be fine.

The 90 is the setting on the sub's crossover. Since you will be using the crossover on the 225, you will not be using the sub's crossover. The 100hz setting on the receiver will be fine.

Sorry I guess I never understood that. So when you use "sub in" and set speakers to small the crossover adjustments on the sub don't come into play at all? Does it matter where the dial is pointing?

On the sub, there is a "sub in/out" switch. When using the crossover on the receiver, it should be in the "out" setting. That disables the crossover on the sub, and it will not matter where the dial is set.
