Does this new model have spikes or stub feet like the old model? If it has spikes then coasters will be required for hardwood floors. (A piece of carpet under the sub does not work for the estethics or WAF).

The new model does not show the ports or their location. The specs say there are two. Are they both located on one side, with the control panel on the rear?

I went to a carpet store looking for a rug and he ended up having a 13x17 size rug. Fits perfectly under the STF2 - I'd say 12x16 would still fit. Try going to a store yourself.

BTW, there was another larger rug that was perfect for the STF3!
I guess I do get lucky once in awhile.

I used some low pile closed loop commercial grade carpet with the heavy duty felt backing (scrap from a jobsite). It is fairly thin, but very dense, so the feet don't go through. When cut to size it just looks like a shadow under the sub. OF course it helps that the sub is semi hidden in a corner.

Yes, the sub does have two ports (located in the rear, similar in position and orientation to the VTF-3 ports), and it has metal spiked feet.

you may want to try one of these:

it is about 20"x20".
