A question for Hsu owners, and possibly Dr. Hsu if possible....
After you owned your Hsu for more than 50 hours of use, did it continue to improve in sound quality ? This is obviously past the normal break in time, and I do mean past 50 hour's worth of movies and music.
Any thoughts, comments, and theories regarding this would be appreciated...
Thanks !

Are you asking the question because you have noticed a difference?
According to the FAQ area the break in time is 2-3 movies.
My main speakers did take nearly that long till they sounded their best, but I don't have 50 hours of real bass on my sub yet, so I can't really say.

Dudley, Yes, even after the initial break in period, I have noticed an improvement in the last month

Yes, I have also noticed a tremendous improvement; I think that the 2 - 3 movie break in suggestion will be fine for most listeners. However, those who listen very attentively to their systems (and I know that you definitely do!), are in for a very pleasant surprise, especially on music.

Active - What brought this to light was having the Denali still in the room. The Denali "broke in" over the first 20 hours, and has stayed pretty consistent since then. I checked my notes from the shootout, and they match what I am still hearing. The Denali plays just as well, goes just as deep... and has remained the same subwoofer it was 4 weeks ago.
Since then, the VTF-3 Mark II pair has improved. The bass has gotten quicker, more relaxed, and subjectively deeper. One one Jazz SACD, there is a segment where, during a drum solo, the drummer does a bass/kick drum mini solo... very fast hits on the kick drum, in the 24-32 Hz range.
The VTF-3 has improved to the point where each "whack" is delineated very well...
Any thoughts from anyone with theories as why this is occuring ?

Please provide a link if you do.
I finally hooked up my new VTF-3MkII Piano Black yesterday (it arrived just as I was moving into my new home) and was absolutely astounded by the performance of the unit. Mind you, I have not yet done one ounce of optimization and the sub is totally in the wrong location. However, in about 5 minutes of listening I realized that I'm probably going to have to rebuild my whole media room as I discovered about 15 sources of horrible rattling. Wow, that sub-30Hz bass is really good for that. What I couldn't believe was the output level below about 25Hz or so. I played a sweep test and just had to laugh as I stopped "hearing" anything but the whole room felt like it was about to rattle apart. It actually scared my fiancee'. Cool . . .
More surprising was how tight the drums were on some of my classical tracks, reference recordings RR-96 Rachmaninoff: Symphonic dances for example. I've heard enough live performances to recall just how they should sound and "feel." fantastic. All of the hype surrounding these subs is completely true. I can't wait to hear how the sub will sound once I place it properly in the room and calibrate it right.

I'm a firm believer that the bigger the driver, the longer the break in. For subs, I've noticed change over a period of months (SV Ultra comes to mind) depending on how stiff the surround is and how much you might care to push it.
My mk2 was hard to dial in until 100+ hours, in my system/my ears. Just an opinion here guys.
