I've got a VTF-3 Mk II coming and I'm looking forward to listening to some loud bass heavy music and big movie sound effects. However, my wife just asked me if our 90 year old single pane windows (that are all over the listening room) will survive those sound effects.
I really don't know, and it makes me nervous to really turn the volume up. Any thoughts, experiences, or comments on this? Thanks!

I have old single pane windows...but not 90 years old. No problems....and I have cranked up the VTF-3 pretty loud.

If I were you, I would contact Dr. Hsu about this to get his opinion on how the old window panes will react to deep, strong, loud bass. Best not to take any chances.

If those windows are 90 years old think of all of the high winds they have been through. I don't think the subwoofer will hurt them, but they may buzz a little bit if the glazing compound has lost its bite. You can get glazing compound in a tube at wal-mart to firm up the window panes.
I have single pane, 96 year old, leaded glass windows (like stained glass but no colors, just patterns with the lead) and they have survived, but they do buzz from timed to time. These are even weaker than normal single pane as each window is made up of a dozen or so pieces of glass.
If it is loud enough to really hurt your house - imagine what it is doing to your ears.
Enjoy the sub when it arrives. :)

I have never heard of a house window blowing out becaues of a home subwoofer. You should be fine. Car audio is different, because the car cabins are presurized.
