I am a nubie to this forum. I just sold my HSU 2003 VTF-2 and am in the process on hunting for a replacement to accompany my new home theater. Can anyone comment on differences between the VTF-2 and VTF-3 HO subwoofers? Any information would be appreciated, as I need to make a decision on a new subwoofer soon. Price range $400-$1000, in excess of 6000 cubic feet in room. Other components:
52" Sony Bravia XBR4
Sony Blue-Ray
Integra 6.8 receiver
Polk LC265i's for front RL&C Channel
Polk TC265i"s for rear surrounds (2 each)
SUBWOOFER????????
Thank you so much for any insite you might pass on to me.

Compare the sub specs and read the info on HSU site. That will give you your answer. I have over 6000 cu feet of space and see my sig to see what I run. Also, sometimes I don't think that I have enough sub output on the lower end.

Thanks for your input Bill. I see, by the list of equipment in your home theater, your are on the higher end of components. Thanks again and I will look up the spec's on both.

Rich,
I've got an HO w/Turbo and an MBM coming up for sale very soon. Just have to decide on my new sub, and get it ordered.
I'm in the Dallas, Tx area. Not sure where you are located though.

The HO will likely go first, as I don't know which sub I'll go with right now(still deciding). I may or may not need the MBM. I know this doesn't give you the info you're looking for, but thats the best I can do :o

You might find increased output with the new subs, but they will not, like some other sub brands, sound like night and day. Since Hsu had the ideal of sound quality in mind right from the start of the design of his subs, each successive generation just improved on the last in terms of SPL, but never giving up the quality of their sound for it. While other brands might design purely with specs in mind and new subs might measure higher in output, it might perform worse in types of measurements that to output fanatics, are of no importance.

I got my new VTF3.3 with Turbo yesterday. I got it installed last night and finished configuring it this morning. It is great. It replaced a pair of 15 year old Hsu HRSW10s, which had finally given up the ghost. I placed the 3.3 right next to the chair I usually sit in when I am using my HT system and it provides sweet undistorted bass. Its output is both low enough and loud enough and is far, far better than the HRSW10s ever produced. The 3.3 wasn't cheap but was on clearance, so I managed to save a few bucks.

Well in my case and room when I went from a VTF-2 to a VTF3-MK3 Turbo it really was a night and day difference.

I think you will be fine, but ask Pete and/or Dr. Hsu.
You could also get the ULS-15 first, and compare.

Do returning customers get a discount on current purchases ?

As long as an item is purchased at regular price, then absolutely we will be happy to give a five percent returning customer discount (provided that the customer is in our system). So this wouldn't apply for items on clearance/sale, or packaged items that are already discounted.
