Two VTF-3 MK3's?

I just took delivery of a new VTF-3 Mk3 last month. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE IT! But it is making me a bass junky. So... my question is: Would it really be worth the expense in terms of performance to purchase another VTF-3 Mk3? Would two double my bass output or would I only get me a marginal increase?

If you locate them next to each other, you get a 6 db increase in overhead. If they are located away from each other, you should get a 3 db increase. 3 db isn't much to human perception, but you get a more even sound, more even frequency response and better room coverage. With two VTF3s you could do what I did and place them on opposite ends of the couch, with the drivers facing inward toward the listener. That absolutely pounds my couch, and gives me massive bass as well. If you decide to do this, experiment with the phaze to make sure you are getting the most out of opposite facing drivers.

Although I've never done it, I'm all about dual (or quad) subs. Just got my VTF-3 and am already salivating at the thought of a second one. Here's why: at my listening position, I've measured a ~10dB null between 30-40 Hz. Having a second sub in another location "should" help fill that in, which to me is priceless.

If you're simply looking for louder bass, I'd suggest you start by turning up the gain a little on the sub you have first, before dropping many hundreds of dollars! lol Then, if you still want more bass go ahead and get a second sub, and co-locate / stack them...
