Just placed my order for my first HSU subwoofer, Bought a Rosenut VTF-15. Looking forward to running it through its paces. I am matching it with a full 7 channel Rocket setup (RSC200/RS850/RS300/RS250) and I have a Earthquake Supernova MKV-15 that will be relegated to the rear of my Theater.

I will be setting things up with a Velodyne SMS-1 room correction kit. And I am looking forward to the tweaking that can be done with this awesome sub. I will post my impressions when I have time do a thorough test, and evaluation.

Looking forward to others input on setup and advice.

Have a great Easter weekend everyone!

What do you think of the 7005?

What do you think of the 7005?

I have to say the 7005 is one of the best Pre/Pros I have had the chance to own.
I had the Parasound 7100, and the Rotel RSP-1069, and up till' now I was using a Marantz SR8002 as a Pre/Pro.
The 7005 is really easy to setup, it has a great GUI as far as I am concerned, and the Audyssey MultEQ XT is pretty easy to use, and give's me great results.
I have only had it for about a week, so I cant report on its long term reliability, but if its anything like the SR8002 it replaced it will last me for a good long while.
The sound is fantastic, I use a pair of Emotiva XPA-1's for the front, and an XPA-5 for the rest. Hard to beat the Emotiva price point.
Truthfully it has much more than I wanted, all the networking, and the ipod/iphone connections, as well as a host of other features, but its nice to know that its there, at a price that I think is hard to beat.

Well, the VTF-15 got delivered last Thursday. And I was more than impressed by the packaging, the outside box was pretty well beaten to death, but the interior box was unharmed.

The unpacking was also quite easy, due to the great packing design. Slid out very easy, and positioned so that the rubber feet could be installed. For a sub of this size and weight, getting into position was pretty easy, and setup was even easier.

I set the sub volume to 9:00 and the EQ to EQ1 with one port open, and set the Q control to 0.5, in my 2600 square foot room. Ran Audyssey on my Pre/Pro, and the ran the Auto EQ on my Velodyne SMS-1 which needed very little tweeking on my part, and in about an hour I had dialed in the VTF-15 to a what I think is a perfect setup, for my room.

The first thing that I noticed was the impact, that wasn't there with my old Earthquake MKV-15. I not only felt the notes while playing my favorite test CD, (Pat Metheny and Charlie Haden......Beyond the Missouri Sky) this is one of the most stunning recordings (in my opinion) the Standup Bass and Guitar interplay is recorded at a stellar level, and taxes most systems I have played it on, and through the Rocket 850's and the VTF-15 I was in heaven. I heard every note, unlike the Earthquake, it tended to give more of a one note sound on some demanding recordings, this on the other hand was fantastic.

I listened to a few more CD's, I am a Jazz and Classical guy, and I like some of the older stuff like Chicago, Earth Wind & Fire etc. And everything was like the first time hearing it, lets just say I am going through my collection again, and loving every minute.

We also watched a movie the second night I had the sub, Tron....not the best plot, but the Audio, and soundtrack is a lot of fun. There was more than one occasion that I truly started laughing at the amount of bass, and how well it was produced. We watched a few others since, and I was truly floored by this sub!

The only thing that I can say is, I am getting another one. I Never thought of myself as a bass nut, But I am a convert. Lets just hope my wife can put up with me spending even more time than before in my Theater room.

Pete you have outdone yourself on this sub, I truly enjoy it it, Thanks!

I just realized I didn't mention about the finish on the sub. The rosenut is fantastic looking, and matches the finish on my Rockets pretty close. Its a bit darker, but it doesn't detract from the overall look. Like I said, I will be getting another when my budget permits.

Thanks again Pete for an excellent transaction.

Now, back to my room to do more listening!!

Hey Rick, hunt through the 15H thread, you'll see a couple of the sms response graphs. A couple of us posted ours there.:D

Hey Erich, thank you so much, I'm so glad that you are enjoying the subwoofer! I really appreciate all the great feedback!

Have you had a chance to experiment with any of the different operating modes? I'd love to hear your thoughts on the different modes.

Thanks again, have a great weekend!

Sincerely,
