View Full Version : Ventriloquist with HB-1's for fronts

Hello all,

I'm considering mixing it up a bit only bc I want some beefier fronts when I play music. So I'm thinking of getting some HB-1's and the ventiloquist satellites and front for my home theater. No space to mount anything bigger than those small satellites for surround, as well.

Is this borderline crazy?

You mean putting HB-1 for the fronts and Ventris for the sats?
That is ok...

Yup, that's what I meant. Any tips on how to setup my Onkyo sr606 to make sure I'm all good?

I'm no expert. But from what I know.
General guidelines:

1.Put every speaker facing at your listening position(sub on nearfield cornerat 9'o clock dial, if you can't then use farfield)...I prefer grills off...
2.Center & Fronts tweeter at ear level. Surrounds 2-3 feet above your ear level. Fronts 6 feet apart from each other at least...
3.Don't touch any bass or treble setting on AVR...
4.Run auddysey.
5.Overwrite values and put all speakers xovers at 80hz, don't use double bass setting, LFE at 80hz too...Raise a little bit the LFE channel output.Audyssey normally puts it too low...
6. Watch db levels with SPL meter to make sure everything is fine(say at 75db calibration)
7. See if you like it.That is the most important thing.

By the way...
What sub you have?

I'm going with the STF2 that comes with the Ventriloquist system. Man, thanks for the tips. This forum rocks.
