View Full Version : Wireless Module For Previous Subs?

I have an VTFHOw/sub and am having horrible problems picking up a radio station (their transmitter is only 1 or 2 miles away). I've even used a quad-shielded 75-ohm outdoor TV cable...

In any case, the wireless transmitter on the new subs would be perfect for me if sonically they are considered top notch. So, my question is... Can you somehow sell a module, or let us know if you OEM'd someone else's wireless connection, that would be sub-independent (i.e., it would have RCA on both sides for 2 feet and wireless inbetween).

My other question about the wireless - is there any chance it could pick up some loud noise from another wireless device in the neighborhood and then put a signal through the sub that would cause deafness for the people inside? Maybe, does it have a level trim built in to prevent this? I know I've gotten various forms of intereference on various wireless devices and the VTF3HO, I believe, has the power and cones to cause deafness pretty quickly... Not sure, just some thoughts.

For example, I did find this - but I have a very high end audio system and would prefer that the quality be maintained. So something you guys 'approved' of as not diminishing sound quality would be great.

Speaking of that - has anyone done testing with the new sub to compare wired vs wireless and sound quality?

I have a pair of those Buttkicker wireless transmitters if you want to buy them. They wouldn't work for me(unsure of the issue), but there are a lot of people using these for wireless transmitters for subs, just like what you're wanting.

I'll sell the pair for $75 plus shipping(this is what I have in them), they are brand new. If you feel you want to go this route, let me know.

I have heard the ButtKicker RF link is noisy. It will work for the ButtKicker tactile transducer but does not provide acceptable performance for subwoofers. Others may have different opinions.

I have not tried the wireless connection on my ULS-15 DuelDrive system. I have heard it works very well.

Right... And KEF makes something similar, but it has a 50-watt amp as well and is 500/600 bucks... If I wanted the amps I wouldn't hesitate at all, but I hate paying for stuff I'm not using. If KEF made them for 300 without the amps, I would get it...

And yeah - I do want the highest sound quality at reasonable prices (i.e., under 500 would be good...)

Anyone from Hsu?

A version of the wireless part of the new sub for us with old ones?

Or tell us what was OEM'd so we can buy it on our own?
