MY SYSTEM UPDATE:

I run all my speakers flat at 77 db calibrated from the receiver pink tones and the LFE crossover is 150 hz. The following is the reason for why I have my system setup this way. I have a Paradigm X-30 sub volume controller and a Anti Mode 8033B (subwoofer room EQ) on the LFE line going to my three subs and two MBM's. I have great slam and the couch does shake with two HSU Turbo 3.3's (50 hz down) nearfield behind the couch. In between the 3.3's is a Dayton 15" sub (was a kit from PE) and it also is set to the MBM's 50-150 hz (I like the mid bass). The two MBM's (one with each main) have a reciever LFE crossover of 150 hz and the audio is really quite dynamic, with 200 amps (Outlaw M2200 mono blocks) per main (Polk Monitor 10's with MBM's stacked on top with Aulrex Subdude between them and also on the floor). The X-30 volume is tuned to 79-80 db and I needed the other speakers to be just two db under that output for balance. The X-30 controller allows me to dial up the LFE to whatever I want when playing a movie. However, for most listening (music and movies) I do prefer the current settings. I now have audio nieveria :D unless of course I come into some big $$$ and maybe have Goldman of Switzerland come and do a HT for me. Movies and music are a real pleasure to listen to now!

Bill, I am hearing very good things about the Anti-Mode 8033. Maybe one of these days, later this year, I'll ask Curtis to drop by so that we can measure frequency response in our demo room before and after to see the effect it has.

The Anti Mode is a pretty easy no brainer as far as setup and go. A lot of the testing done has shown that it does hold its own against BFD and SMS-1. I like mine!

Pete, there is no doubt the 8033 works as advertised removing peaks. How would you know if you had dips that needed work without something like REW or RTA?

Peaks are the easy part to deal with compared to dips that may require location, phase adjustment or AVR disatance adjustment.

Just curious how the dips are managed, I do not think any EQ can do much with dips but I have been wrong before.

Very cool setup pincarry. I've checked your pics out on avs before. Love that mc tube amp. I'm running an old mc250. Looks similar to the tube amp you have.

Tracy, you are correct in that one would need some type of measurement software to determine what peaks are brought down. In our case, we would simply perform a before and after frequency response sweep using LMS.

Looks like LMS is a professional package. Never heard of LMS before now, thanks.

I can imagine! McIntosh is some great stuff! That old amp I'm running was handed down to me from my dad who has been using it for a good 20 years probably. He had it from back in the day when he use to run his own stereo shop in town. Still runs like a champ. I'm sure your amp will give you years and years of enjoyment.
