Last night the wife gave me permission to order a sound system for our living room/patio.
When we built our home I mistakenly failed to wire the LR for surround. We have a media room that will eventually have a 5.1 system in it, but we currently spend the majority of our time in the LR and on the patio.
For the LR, I bought to HB-1's and an HC-1 for movie watching.
For the sub I ordered the STF-2.
The room is 20x22x12 so the STF-2 might be a little small, but I'm planning on upgrading a VTF-MK3 in the LR and moving the STF-2 to the media room whenever we can afford the full sound system for the media.
I ordered an Onkyo HT-RC360 to power the LR and patio. Polk Atrium 4's will be used outside.
I can't wait to listen to music in the LR. We're currently using a Nakamichi Soundspace 8 to listen to music in the LR. It is a very cool looking little system that has served me well for music since I originally purchased it 11.5 years ago fresh out of college and living in an apartment. I'm fairly confident that my music collection is about to take on a whole new life when I hook up this system :D
The sub placement will not be optimal - the wall with the TV has a fireplace in one corner and the entry to our bedroom in the other. The sub will either go next to the entryway to the BR or at the base of the fireplace. I'll have to experiment to see which works best.
