Can someone please point me to some frequency response curves for Hsu subs. I am the proud owner of a Rosewood VTF-3.2. I am looking for a sub to go with a new pair of Gallo D'Avias for a new HDTV in a family room. I need to be able to have a sub that stays flat to 100 Hz since the Gallo's begin to roll-off at that point. I would like to keep costs down and have looked at the VTF-1 and VTF-2. They give me bass extension, adequate for this room and its purpose, and veneer to match the room. I am open to any and all suggestions. The smallest sub to serve my purpose is desirable since this one has to be approved by my patient and understanding wife. She has let me have my way with several other rooms, so I am amenable to her wishes in this one. Thanks for a great sub. If anyone ever wants to sell their Rosewood VTF-3, I am a buyer. A pair would be the icing on the cake in my main room! Love you guys (and girls)!

Hi tgrisham,
All of the current VTF subs have a flat response out to 200Hz and beyond, so they should work fine crossed over at 100Hz. The ideal solution would be to have two of the VTF subs flanking your left/right mains so that you could cross over even higher without any localization.
Sincerely,

Thanks, Pete,
I also believe that that is the best solution. I might be able to talk my wife into two subs, but if not, which one sub should I choose?

You are most welcome tgrisham!
What are your room dimensions (HxWxD)? Does your room open to any other areas of the house, and if so, what are the dimensions of those areas?
The VTF-2 MK3 will play deeper and louder than the VTF-1, but the -1 is still a very impressive subwoofer with very good output capability. And the nice thing about the -1 is that it is much smaller and lighter and easier to move around.
So as long as you don't have a room that is much larger than 3000 ft^3 (including volume of open areas), then you really can't go wrong with either, it's just a question of tradeoffs: deep bass extension/output vs smaller size/weight/cost.

Thanks, Pete. I have a VTF-3.2 in Rosewood. Is that the same stain as the Rosenut? I have to look at decor issues as well as sound!

I think that the old rosewood looks a bit different, especially with the piano gloss endcaps, but both the old finish and the new finish look very nice!
