View Full Version : How much weight can a 3.3 take?

Sorry if this question is dumb, but I'm going to ask it; Can someone of modest weight sit on it? How about a child?

The reason I ask is because my seating is limited and with it sitting behind the couch and as big as it is, its at least tempting one to try to sit on it since its large, flat and square. I'm also asking because if this is a definite no-no, I might have to put a small sticker on top labeled "please do not sit here".

Thanks,

Azanon

Heck, I stood on mine once (without shoes of course) to reach the tile in the drop ceiling above it, and I'm about 158lbs. While I don't recommend it, it easily supported my weight.

It'd take as much weight as a 3.3 could take if a 3.3 could take weight.

ah, but now we're back to the original question. Since a 3.3 can take weight (my 158lbs) how much weight can 3.3 take? Since a 3.3 can take weight.

Anyone who has a circus visiting could always put it to the baby elephant ringmaster test.

Get a photo if it "works out" ...... it could form a new Hsu advertisement series.

I've enjoyed the humor, but I'm hoping for a more serious answer before it just moves down the thread list. The 3.3 has been out long enough that hopefully there's a general idea on this.

I could try sitting on it myself, and see if it caves in to my 165 pounds, but I can't afford to buy another one, and I doubt they'd honor the warranty if that's how it met its demise.

I'm 285 and I sat on mine to work on the mains, so I quess it's ok to sit, but for how long is a quess?

Hey guys,

It is no problem at all for a full size adult to sit on top of the VTF-3 MK3. Well, maybe not the 1000 pound man, but almost everyone else can sit on it without any problems.

Sorry to be a bit off topic but this question reminds me of a funny thing my mechanic told me.

A mechanic got a call one day and the guy asked "How long can you drive a Porsche 911 Turbo with the "check engine" light On?"

Without hesitation the mechanic replied "It depends on how much money you have."

I'm assuming that the frame of the sub is "screwed and glued" and was constructed to take many years of flexing and vibration but it was not designed to be sat on. Any "wiggling" of the person sitting on it is likely to put stresses on the joints that they we not designed to take.

Can you sit on it? Sure, If you have enough money to replace it IF it breaks down the road.

Would I allow anyone to sit on my sub? He** No!

It'd take as much weight as a 3.3 could take if a 3.3 could take weight.

This was really funny. By the way I weigh 215 and I sat on mine no problem.

To tame the higher freq, did you use a device like the Anti Mode?

Maybe a Feedback Destroyer would be better. You don't want to tame the higher db peaks too much?
