Hi Folks,
I have a VTF-3R for sale. Original price was $1035.00 The rosewood finish matches perfectly with the Onix Rockets by av123. This sub is a 10 out of 10 and is in perfect condition. I just upgraded to the Velodyne DD-15. If you are looking for a great sub at a low price you will not be disappointed with this sub. Please email cnewlander@hotmail.com Thanks.

;)Did you mean to type "Don't you mean YOU'RE downgrading." instead of "Don't you mean YOUR downgrading." ?
Its not really fair to compare these products as they are obviously in
completely different sub-woofer categories.
I'm not going to explain the differences here as this is not the proper place to do so. If you are interested in learning about some of the differences between these two subs please free free to send me an email and I can share with you what I know.
Regards,
Craig

I think the smily faces indicate that the comments were not very serious. I have never even heard a DD15. For $4,000 though I am sure it is quite good. I have heard the less expensive SPL series (the 8" model for about $1,200 or so) and it is no match in depth for my STF-2. It did have a tight sound and was fairly free of distortion, but just not much low end. It was quite small though, and that could be attractive to some. Also at these prices people are buying style and design as much as performance (I happen to like the STF style though so that is not an issue with me).
Enjoy the new sub, and I am sure you won't have much problem selling the VTF-3. I think we all agree that the HSU subs are an excellent value. :)

The DD-15 is an excellent sub. I doubt Dr Hsu would disagree that Velodyne in its high end subs offer excellent performance. Although obviously its in a vastly different market where Hsu doesn't offer any product.
I am sure that when Dr Hsu rolls out his new flagship product/s he will be looking much closer at the higher end of the market.

No prob. One thing to keep in mind is the DD series sub are a sealed design. Ported and Sealed sub each have their strengths and weaknesses. One isn't "better" then the other as there are many parameters to consider. Personal preference being one of them.
The DD subs have a RTA and 8 band parametric eq which allow room correction for flat bass response. Yes, the VTF-3 is a good sub - I almost don't want to sell it as I would like to use it for a future two channle setup.

If the DD15 replacement for the VTF-3 is in a HT system, you might consider using both units.
I have a Sonus Faber Cremona 7.3 system (i.e., three subs).
The main sub is a REL Stentor, and one of my rosewood VTF-3's is across from in (both near the front corners), and the second VTF-3 in the rear is used to cancel any standing waves. It is next to the listening/viewing seat, and when ELF effects kick in it is an awsome experience.
