View Full Version : How Good Is The STF-2 Really?

I was wondering if all of you could give me a true and honest answer to how good the STF-2 really is?

I'm in no way implying that the responces I read are not true and honest, but I understand how easy it can be to talk up a product that a person has bought themself. Some do it out of total honesty, others do it to feel more confidant about their purchase.

I have the oppertunity to buy a VTF-3MK2 from a guy I know, but right now money is pretty darn tight, and I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to purchase it from him or not. I could drop down the VTF-2MK2, but again, money is tight. It bites and I don't like it, but that's the reality of the situation.

The STF-2 on the other hand, that sub I could easily do, but I have real concerns about it.

I've always made it a vital point for my system to sound better then anything I hear/heard in local theaters. The last thing I want is a sub that isn't going to cut the mustard sort of speak. I mean, I don't just want to hear good bass, I want to feel it. However, I also realize that my current situation is pretty much dictating things here.

I have a dedicated home theater room that's down in my basement. The basement is finished, all carpeted, and the HT room itself has two doorway size openings along the same wall. One on the left side of the wall, the other on the right. So for a non perfect room, it's about as good as you can get. It's pretty much fully enclosed in other words. It's dimensions is 15' 11 1/2" X 10' 10 1/2", ceiling not even 8' high.

So how would the STF-2 work? How well would it preform, and will it do all that I'm hoping it would, or am I just hosed?

Thanks everyone, sorry for such a long post.

I don't have the STF-2, but why don't you ask Dr. Hsu. In my experience, you'll get an honest answer. My opinion is that the STF-2 will be very good in that room. Don't forget - you can try the sub for 30 days.

My room is larger than that, and my STF-2 sounds significantly better than the local theaters. Of course different theaters sound different. :)

others do it to feel more confidant about their purchase.

Sorry but not here at Hsu. We all bought a Hsu sub because we know they are are the best at producing REAL BASS regardless of the model.

Will you feel it?
I tell you what - to hear and feel what an STF2 can do, order Boom Raider from Car Sound & Performance magazine. Play track 8 or 11 at a fairly low volume and I promise you that your jaw will brop. :D :D The STF2 is more than what you would expect from it. A lot more.
Don't forget to calibrate it and ask the Dr about proper placement.
