They look very well built - better then the 1202s, although there was nothing wrong with their quality. The 1203s just look more expansive. Good job Dr HSU!

I may replace them tomorrow and just use the current amp to see the difference, but most likely will wait for the JLs to arrive.

As requested, here are some of the specs on this unit.

Fs = 25.3 Hz
Re = 3.9 Ohms
Qms = 4.9
Qes = 0.46
Qts = 0.42
Vas = 94 liters

Until we come out with the tube enclosures, here is a good box enclosure for it:

thanks Sasha - The apm & the subs will be installed this coming Tuesday. I can hardly wait.

Any of those numbers mention sensetivity?

Dr. Hsu still has to dig up the sensitivity numbers for me, or figure out the in car sensitivity.

ok - when ever you get the info.

I had them installed today along with the JL 500/1

I guess they need to break in - can't tell the difference except that the 1203s sound a little ""muddy" right now. I'll keep you posted.

they are coming alive with each minute of music - I'll give them a week or so to break in before giving a report. Although I may have to play with the setup on the amp.

it's been 5 days & I can tell you that I can hear the difference, although it probably needs alot more time to break in.
I still have to play around with the amp settings - I wish installers knew what they are doing. O well.

Sasha - FYI - Collin from Weststate AV in Australia suggested 500watts for the 1202s a few years ago. I think these subs could easily handle 500 watts also.

Look and listen at/to the TN series and the model 500 amp. This actually outputs 500w@4ohms, so you can clearly see the driver works very well. Read Don Keele's August99 "Audio Magazine" review of the TN where he talks about testing of the Hsu driver.

The 1203 should be slightly better.

Okay, I hear. No point in worrying about 400 vs. 500 too much, but we don't want people blowing out the drivers with their super powered car amps either.

Once I had only 1 1202 in the trunk driven by 400 watts and it was awesome. I pushed it very hard, but the driver never got damaged. Only the amp would shot off. I bought another 500/1 - I may have that installed too.
The speaker is breaking in and sounds real good, but still need to play with the amp. It is not easy alone. Takes too much time.

Actually, here is what was fed to the 1202!

RMS Power measured at 12.5 Volts DC:
150 Watts x 2 into a 4 Ohm load with less than 0.05% THD+N
300 Watts x 2 into a 2 Ohm load with less than 0.1% THD+N
600 Watts bridged into a 4 Ohm load with less than 0.1% THD+N

The MTX 2300 was bridged. So I guess 600 watts?
