Adding HSU HIW-1 or HB-1 speakers for Dolby Atmos 5.1.4 question
 
I have the Hybrid 15 - 5.1 package installed in my 15x13 sized HT along with utilizing a pair of ceiling mounted Polk 8" speakers (model unknown) the previous home owner left behind to make a 7.1 setup. I am in the process of purchasing a new receiver to setup a Dolby Atmos 5.1.4 setup in the room and had a question regarding the HSU HIW-1 speaker; how wide of dispersion is the sound from that speaker if mounted in my ceiling? My ceiling is at two heights (8.5' for the first 8 feet of the room and 7' for the remaining 5 feet). The Polks are mounted in the lower portion of the ceiling just behind the seating row (under the lower ceiling) and would be excellent location for the rearward Atmos speakers. The front speaker location might be a concern due to the 18" ceiling transition to cover a duct. If the HIW-1 dispersion is not great, I could always surface mount another pair of black HB-1 speakers on the ceiling and angle them towards the seating area. Also, I prefer just leaving and using the Polk speakers in the rear Atmos setup as I would have to do drywall repair to install a second set of HIW-1 speakers due to the different size and the chances of getting the ceiling texture perfect where I couldn't see the repair would be slim.

What are your thoughts on the HIW-1 being paired with a set of Polks for Atmos duty? What about the speaker dispersion for those front HIW-1? Would a Atmos setup sound better with a pair of HB-1's forward mounted on the ceiling and angled towards the seating?
