Hi ctrulock,

If you're still around.

After adding the second stf-1, can you tell me whether or not you noticed an appreciable difference overall in sound quality?

Thanks!

No problem opium.

I think you'll find that the STF1 is more than enough for rock. Just plop in some early Metallica or Def Leppard.

Also,

You might think about either an inline high pass filter for your bookshelf speakers, or a passive or active crossover. These will help you better integrate the sub into your system since your...

I'd recommend 2-STF1s, or a single STF1 dead center of your listening position. I currently have a single STF1. I originally had it corner loaded. Though I couldn't exactly localize the bass, it...

Nice little speaker/sub suggestion for the budget-minded.

For a good-sounding budget music system:

Buy a pair of Radio Shack (Realistic) Minimus 7 speakers off of eBay, or anywhere else ($20 to $50). Get the older ones that were made in Japan. ...

The only place in this room is under the desk, be it true subs or the MBM. There is no room for a subwoofer behind the desk (seat). 50" in width for one or two subs is the area in which I...

Subs for Music

Pete (or anybody else),

I have a Marantz 2285B along with an NHT X2 crossover.

For strictly a near-field music-based system, which, in your opinion would be best?

1 VTF-1
2 VTF-1s (Ports facing...

I would go for the STF-2 for the lower extension it provides. You'll appreciate that for home theater use. For music, then either is great. I have an STF-1 that I'm using for just that purpose.

There are some soft, rubbery, type pads in place of where the spikes would normally go on the speakers. It leaves about a 1mm gap.

They definitely are impressive. Probably overkill, but...
