Is there a possibility of leaving a space behind your L shaped sofa and place the sub(s) back there? A VTF-3 MK3 directly behind there will be wonderful. Fire the woofer directly into the back of the sofa. An alternative if you have not already bought your furniture is to get a sofa and a loveseat instead of an L shaped one. With that layout, get two VTF-3 MK3 and use both as end tables on the two sides of the sofa (sofa facing the screen). Budget-wise, a pair of MK3 is about the same as a HO plus a MBM-12.
