Music and mp3 no bass.. Thin.. Help
Have HSu 5.1 package with Onkyo 706 AVR. Big VT15 Subwooofer... Nice Play and stream thru PS3.
Movies sound good but music has no bass and no real presence... What gives? Even cd can not really knock me out.. Ripped all my music to 320kb and no bass unless I crank setting to +9 or so... |

What happens if you flip the "phase switch" on the back of the sub?

Sounds like an issue with your source. The sub would not distinguish between movies or music, it just plays what you feed it. This is a setup issue.

As I said, try flipping the phase switch. Either you'll start hearing a lot more bass, or you don't. If flipping it doesn't help, then it's probably best to put it back.
Most of the bass in music including a most kick drum is in the crossover region (around 80 Hz), whereas movies typically have lots of bass well below the crossover. If there is a phase problem, one will notice the deficiency much more with music than with movies. Of course, movies have plenty of bass around the crossover too (lots of chest slam), so fixing a crossover phase problem can improve movies too. |

May want to check your receiver settings. Is it in Direct Mode? What are the speaker settings?
