Smile Santa delivered!!!

Sort of delivered (with my truck) LOL!!!

This is my first HT. Choosing the room was tough. I had a spare room, which I could have used, but end up using the living room since I never occupy there.

Spent a few weeks cutting out the hole for the components and running wires.

I haven't had a chance to calibrate the sound but so far I am impressed. I turned the volume to 70 on the Onkyo 604 and the room sounded like I was at a concert (listening to the "Eagles" tour cd).

I crossed the speakers at 80 hz. The HO is crossed at 50 using the crossover while the mbm is crossed at 80 at the receiver end.

I am running the sub at -1 db. The HO is dialed to 12 on the volume and the mbm is at 9:30 on the volume.

I had the HO a few days before and noticed it was putting out a lot of bass when crossed at 80 hz with the volume at 11 o'clock, but with the mbm/Ho combo, the bass isn't there unless I crank up the volume to 12 o'clock on the HO. I am new to this.

The HO is about 7 feet back of the sofa. The mbm is next to the sofa.

Tony

Like the rats nest of wires it looks familiar. I swear every time I look behind my system I swear I am going to straighten it up.

Glad you are happy just wait until you calibrate your system.

Happy viewing and listening.

Tony, how deep is your room (from front wall to back wall)?

Try positioning your VTF-3 HO/t so that the turbo ports fire forward and driver fires sideways. Also, I would position the MBM-12 directly behind the couch, placed sideways.

Thanks, and congratulations on your beautiful system!!!

When you set the HO to 80 Hz, do you have the MBM-12 running at the same time? Setting the crossover lower certainly reduces the overall volume since the sub will be reproducing less of the signal. Also check the phase between the HB-1s, MBM-12 and HO. First, turn off the HO, turn on the MBM-12, sit in your listening chair, play the 80 Hz warble tone on our CD, and have someone switch the phase on the MBM-12 between 0 and 180 degrees. Leave it in the position that gives more output at 80 Hz. That would be the best phase setting for the MBM-12. Next turn on the HO and the MBM-12, and play a 50 Hz warble tone. Again, sit at the listening chair and have someone switch the HO phase. Choose the phase that gives you the most 50 Hz output.

Rehab,

I know what you mean. Actually, before this pic, I didn't have a cut out hole on the rear. All I had was 2 3" inch holes. Everytime I need to change a cable, I have to pull all the components out up front. It drove me nuts.

I will try what you suggest Peter. Front to back is about 23 feet (23 x13).

Dr. HSu,

When I had the HO crossed at 80 hz, it was playing by itself .

I will try it this weekend.

Thanks,
Tony
