![]() Does the front center speak have to be above the TV? If I have a plasma tv, the speaker can't be placed below? Does it affect the sound adversely?
Can the front speakers be placed on speaker stands? are they available? Which will fit these speakers? Thanks |

The only place I have for mine is the top of a 32" Sony, that is on the floor. So it's 2' of the floor which is out of the recommended hight range.
Sounds just fine Last edited by tdekany : December 17th, 2004 at 7:21 PM. |

The optimal height is at ear level or slightly above it, and always at least 2 feet off the floor. That keeps the sound the most even and musical.
If you can build a shelf right above the plasma and place the Center channel on it, that would probably be the best solution. Of course, it depends on how high your Plasma is mounted. |

Hey Bt - I have a plasma TV. I put the center speaker below by building a shelf for the TV. It works great. You can see a picture of my setup in this forum.
Look for the Thread "More reviews of VT-12" started by Grayson73. The picture was posted on Feb 10. The stand is secured to the TV stand and the TV is then secured to the new stand. The center speaker sits inside the new stand. Hope this helps, -J. Perhaps this link will work... http://www.hsuresearch.com/forum/showthread.php?t=642 |

Many people will like the sound both above and below the TV. The reason we advise placing the center higher up, is that placing the center too close to the ground might result in the mid-bass being a little loud from the extra floor bounce to your ear. So, when deciding on a low or high position, we recommend the high position.

Hi Sasha - no problem with posting the picture, glad you liked it!
The sound is great with the speaker sitting just below the TV. It is around 30" off of the floor. And with the TV on top of the new speaker stand it is at a better viewing position than the original position. I move the L/R speakers out when I'm watching movies to get some separation, but they sound good next to the TV also. I felt that placing the speaker above the TV would have been too high - so this was the best solution for me. BTW - thanks to you and everyone at Hsu for putting together some great products! I have recommended them to everyone I know that is looking for a HT system. -J |

I have my center channel above my 32" Sony. The satellites are at ear level. The center sits about 1 ft above the rt/lt satellites. Also with the given stands the center doesn't really sit well on top of the tv. Any suggestions. It is a Sony FS120. Also will the sound be off since the center sits higher than the other satellites?

Center speaker on DLP
My 50" DLP sits on a 20" high stand so it's two shelves are too low for the center speaker and the top of the TV really doesn't have a ledge. The front of TV is ~24" from the rear wall so I'm thinking of using a large TV wall stand to suspend the center speaker just above the TV. A video pole or ceiling mount might also be more suitable depending on the size of the TV and wall/ceiling location. See the following link to one of the vendors HomeDepot and Lowes carry for ideas:

Video Pole for front center
I decided to go with the following video pole to suspend the center speaker over my 50" DLP.
http://www.peerlessindustries.com/retail/videopole.html Best price was www.buy.com - search for "PMP1320W" (white) or "PMP1320" (black) Maximum load capacity: 50 lbs Shelf height adjustment: 30-84" Pole adjustment: 39-110" Shelf: 14-21"W X 10"D Pole to shelf front edge: 22" max Here's another alternative you might want to investigate: www.Circuitcity.com - search for "CCH1B" I didn't want to trust putting weight on my HDTV. |

How about 55 to 59" from the ground? I have a Samsung DLP 56" TV 5685W which comes with the pedestal and the height is about 55" from the base. If I place the center speaker above 55", would that be recommended? Thanks, TC |
