CCB-8's in bookshelf cells

My new 5.1 (or 5.2) HT is going to require that the front L/C/R speakers sit in bookshelf cells, i.e. be surrounded by vertical and horizontal shelving. I have some ability to vary the cell configuration but the depth is pretty well set at 12". I am able to have about 7+ ft of separation between the L/R speakers, have them set at ear level, toe them appropriately, and bring them to the front edge of the shelf. Considering the CCB-8s in the front (and center) and in-ceiling surrounds. Listening area about 15x15x10, open to surrounding space, mostly HT/soft rock, and dialogue clarity is important but loudness is not. Is this a workable concept ?

So if you toe them in, part of the speaker would be hanging off the shelf, correct?
