Receiver power
Hello all,
I have a question about receiver power as it relates to my listening room. The room is downstairs and has no windows. It's 16x25 and has French doors to the outside, a solid door to the garage, and another to a hall. It is carpeted and has a large desk. It is almost completely lined with bookcases and equipment racks and has an open stairway to the main floor. The latter is an open port to a large area; it can't be closed off. This is what leads me to wonder if the Onkyo 502 (75x6) will have enough power for my room or if I will need more punch. The speakers will be the VT-12 + VTF-1 combination. All opinions welcomed. ![]() ---------- "Once down is no battle." |

You do mean the STF-1.If it were me I would go with at least the STF-2 in a room the size of yours. To be sure an e-mail to the good Dr. about a recommended size sub would help.

75 watts is plenty. The difference in volume by upgrading to 100 watts would not even be noticeable to the ear.
