Forum availability...inconsistent

Hi all,

I noticed that the forum has been offline lately, that is it cannot be reached on many occasions, usually late at night or early mornings on the EAST coast.

Is this forum hosted on personal computer perhaps? Either that or the server it is hosted on is being shut down quite frequently.

Anyone else experience this?

Over the last couple months I can only reach the the forum from my work computer. I can reach the clearance center from home, but nothing else.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'll have our server host look up what's going on. Let me know exactly what is happening, thanks! I can get on fine from my home, various other computers, and work.

Hi Kevin,

I typically cannot access the forum usually AFTER 8pm EST or BEFORE 12pm EST and these times seem too coincidental - as these align with standard 9am-5pm business hours on the west coast.

I can access the main HSU site with no issue. I like to do late night or early morning reading and have noticed this issue recently.

I have not had any problems accessing the forum or website. It could possibly be your ISP with a intermittently functioning DNS server maybe?

I have also noticed issues with the forum. I even tried to get on last night and failed. I work late and don't usually get on until after 11pm MDT.

I tried some more from home last night and once I'm at the clearance center I can them get to the main page and all the products and everything. I just can't get to the forum. If I try to go to the main page without going to a sub page first it doesn't work.

Glad I am not only one experiencing this - hopefully it gets fixed. I often only get time to read late at night or early mornings. I don't think its my ISP, since all other sites and forums work properly. I wonder if the server that this forum is hosted on, goes down for "maintenance" but should not be happening for such extended periods.

Same here I can get to every other forum and site, just not the Hsu forum.

I still cannot access this forum from home. I am using Comcat for Internet service.

I don't believe this is a DNS problem because I did a lookup from multiple alternate locations and got the same IP. Instead, I suspect an IP-level routing problem, which may be preventing a lot of people from accessing this forum.

Great news! I am able to access the forum from home again. I'm not sure how this was resolved. Network problems like these can be insidious and very difficult to troubleshoot because you don't know exactly who is cut off and who isn't. In any case, it's good to be back.

Fantastic! I talked to the company that handles our web-hosting and they worked on and fixed the issue. I appreciate you letting us know. If anyone else is having issues, please let me know. You can send me a pm and let me know what ISP you are using.
