"customizing surround speakers"
I just purchased my first HT setup which consists of axiom speakers and an hsu sub. I need to place the rear surrounds on the fireplace mantle, but they have down firing woofers. I want to make legs for them tilted at the right angle. I bought some 7/8 wood dowels which i thought of cutting to size and gluing to the speakers, than I was going to put either plastic caps or felt on the bottom. I am concerned about resonance. I know it would be better if I could make feet out of rubber but I can't find material. I was also considering putting something between the dowel and the speaker . Does anyone have any ideas ? the help is appreciated. Thanks, Paul

Wish I could offer direct help, but I would suggest posting this question in the speaker section of avsforum.com if you haven't already. It's a lot wider of an audience, and you'll probably get a good response quickly. Not that this isn't a great place for questions.

Agreed, the AVS forum is a good resource for this kind of question.
