Two Subs - Which receiver setting?
In a few days I'll be receiving my second sub VTF-3 MK4 to go along with my VTF-3 MK3. I have a Yamaha RX-A3000 that has dual sub outputs. In the settings I have three choices.
1) Left + Right - Select when two subwoofers are arranged with one to the left and one to the right. 2) Front + Rear - Select when two subwoofers are arranged with one in front of and one behind this unit. 3) Monaural x2 (Default) - Select when two subwoofers are arranged in a manner not suited to either of the other setting options. Now, I will be having one to the left and one to the right, but what do these settings really do? I'm thinking I should just use #3 the default. Any ideas or experience with this type of settings?

Sounds to me like Option 1 will feed left channel to left subwoofer and right channel to right subwoofer, and Option 3 will feed both left and right channels equally to each subwoofer. It's simply a matter of whether you want stereo subwoofing or monaural subwoofing. For movies, I doubt that it matters.

Bottom line....try all three settings to see which one works best in your room. L + R will probably have both subs set at 0 phase. Front and rear might set the phase to 0 for front and 180° for the rear and the third option most likely will use distance instead of phase to match the subs with the x-over on your main left and right channels.

For now I've settled in on L+R
