stf2 in a upstairs apartment

I live in a second story apartment but the room is at least 5500 cubic feet. I was thinking about getting the stf2. This will be used primarily for music and I know I cannot go too big on the bass as the neighbors will be quick to complain. Comments? Suggestions?

Try to go with nearfield placement, where the sub spend less effort pressurizing the room and more pressurizing its proximity, including the person that is nearby.

Has anyone experimented with ways to reduce the transfer of bass into the floor? I know turning it on its side would help but thats a bit of a hack. I was wondering if one could put some kind of insulation under it to help with this. Some foam insulation or something like that. Ideas? Suggestions?

I have the STF-2. I am very impressed with this little guy. It gettings me scrambling for the remote during late night viewing sometimes. So far no problems with the neighbors and I have played it fairly loud. Thanks for all the help.
