which receiver used in lab nowadays

Hi,

I read that HSU used onkyo TX-SR501 few years back to test the performance of subs/speakers setup in labs, nowadays what receiver is used in labs?
I also have onkyo 501 but it is getting hot very quickly so thinking of replacing it and using VTF-3 with infinity beta speakers.

Thanks

Has it always been hot or is this a new thing?

Does it have plenty of space around it for airflow - no dvd player right on top.

Actually I noticed in the 703 that if I put even a movie on top it shuts off, so It needs plenty of space for cooling!!!
