Cool T-Amps and HB-1's

Hi All,

I'm moving into a place without a room conducive to my full 5.1 HSU system. So was thinking of going 3.1 in the main room and doing a 2.0 in an other room. Not looking to blow any budgets, so that immediately threw me into the world of T-Amps. Anyone in the HSU brotherhood have any experience with any of these... there are a huge number of variants around, so reading about all of them has my head still spinning. My fallback plan may be to wait a bit and go for an Emotiva mini-X a-100; but at 2 to 10 times the price of some of these T-Amps and not as portable, may not be ideal for my situation. Thanks for any input.

So I am back to answer my own question. I went ahead and got a Lepai LP-2020A+ and an Indeed TA2021S. After a weekend listening session with both t-amps and my HB-1 MKII, I must say if for whatever reason you blew your budget on the HSU's you could definitely pickup a t-amp and still have a great little 2 channel system for music. This setup ran the HB-1's full range, and I must say they sounded great. I played around and added in my VTF2 MKIII using the high level inputs and onboard crossover. I really liked this setup for music. There was plenty of power and it was just clean.

The other week I picked up a set of Pioneer SP-BS41-LR. For years these have been hyped, so when I saw them I grabbed them. Using the same setup as above, I have to say I was dissapointed with the sound. I may turn around and just sell/trade them, or I'll leave them around as an emergency spare set LOL.

Lessons learned: T-amps are really awesome, HB-1's are awesome with a $25 amp or a $800 amp, HB-1's work great full range- they just rock no matter what!
