Still loving my STF-1...
8 years later that spunky STF-1 continues to impress.
Had a friend over listening to the Hip and he asked where the big sub was hidden :P You know a sub is well built when it gives you goosebumps almost a decade later. One thing I did notice is the volume button is slightly static'y lately. Meaning, the progression of up or down volume is not as clean as it once was. It's as if the volume contacts are wearing. Any suggestions? This little sub will be relegated to analog duty with the NAD in the basement once I save enough money for a VTF-2 MK5 to take over home theater duty. |

Hi there,
Sounds like the potentiometer is dirty. Turn the sub to the off position, and rotate the volume control from min to max quickly about 5 times. Reset to the original volume position and turn it back to auto. Most of the time that takes care of it. |

Is there a aerosol cleaner recommended for long term maintenance? |

I believe that potentiometer is not sealed, so you can spray some compressed air in there, or you can use contact cleaner like deoxit.
