Help! Scratches on my VTF-3 MK4

I sent this e-mail on Sept 30th but have not gotten a response yet. So
thought I'd reach out to everyone here and see if anyone has any ideas.

Hi, This is probably not a usual question as there is nothing wrong technically. But I have VTF-3 MK4 with the standard black stain finish. A few years back I moved and am only now in a position where I can finally use it again. However it seems that in the moving process a careless individual slide something across the top of it instead of lifting it. Now I have a huge number of scuff and light scratches across the top. I tried a lightly damp lint free cloth with no success. I thought maybe a really small amount of car scratch remover might be an option. But before I did anything to potential make it even worse, I thought I would reach out to you first. Is there anything that you know of that I can try to get some of these scratches out? Thank you so much for your help.
