STF-2 or VTF-1 or ???

MY room is 17 x 17 x 8 with one side open to the first floor and a stair way. If you include a 3' strip along the side for the stair way I have approximatly 2,800 cu'. This sub will be used for movies 98% of the time. All of my other speakers will be Speakercraft in ceiling with the exception of the center channel. The Center will be a AIM LCR 3, the L&R AIM 7 three and the surrounds AIM 5 three (7.1 surround sound configuration).

I'm not looking for a system that will play really loud but one that will reproduce full sound at a moderate level for watching movies. So which sub? The STF-2 or VTF-1? The VTF-2 MK 3 starts to get a little large but if it make a dramatic differance I would consider it.

I'm also looking for a reciever in the < $500 range.

Thanks,

Rob
