Simultaneous LFE and speaker inputs?
Do HSU subwofoers support simultaneous LFE and speaker-level inputs? Doesn't say anything about it in the manuals.
Reason is - I am looking to get a dual subwoofer system (VTF-2.5 likely) for both HT and music. For HT I need to use the LFE to get that channel, but stereo music could benefit from stereo subwoofer (taken from L/R speaker-level inputs). Of course I could go up and rewire everything each time I switch between music and HT (including changing port tuning), but wondering if there's an easier way. |

Hi there,
It really depends on the receiver. You can hook up both at the same time, but sometimes the receiver can still be introducing an impedance when off such that when the RCA is connected the volume drops. If you play your stereo amp and disconnect the RCA cable and the volume doesn't change, then you should be fine. If it does, you can get an RCA switcher to disconnect the sub out for both subs at the push of a button. Note that you would still likely need to go in and select the crossover switch for both subs to in for your stereo setup. |

Thanks for the response.
In the scenario I was envisioning, both inputs would be coming from the same receiver. Thus, the subwoofer would be getting a signal from both LFE and speaker-level at the same time. What would happen in this case? |

You're looking to send both the left and right speaker out from the same a/v receiver to the sub as well? If so, that's not necessary. The sub out sums the left and right channel together into a mono signal. and since the subwoofer is only a mono speaker, there would be no benefit of connecting the speaker outs to the sub.
