V-12 --newbie has a few Q's

Hi everyone,
I don't yet have the system...but am very close to buying it.
I have a question for those that own the vt-12:

My main use will be home theater, surround sound..which I've heard nothing but great things about.
I went to hear a bose system and I was wondering if the HT effects are similar.
For example.."A Bugs Life" dvd and the sound of the dragon fly going over your head. The thumping behind you, etc.

Also...
Another big priority for me is playing CD's or playing music DVD's.
I would love this system to sound crystal clear where I can hear the vocals, guitars, etc...just plain good quality.

How does this system measure up for that?

I'm also in an apartement where I can't "blast it"...can I still get the most out of it?

And...finally...
(i guess more than 2 things huh?)...

I don' t think I'm going with the HSU sub woofer.
Instead im looking at:
A Dayton:
http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshow...=300-632&DID=7

Is this still going to do it?
Trying to save money that's basicall the reason.
But...
If I had to..I can pay the extra $200 on the HSU subwoofer.

Last but not least...does this puppy come with wires?

Thanks!!!!

Last but for sure last...
Onkyo now has a 502. I was going to pull the trigger on the 501, but realized the 502 isnt much more $. Anyone using it and see and benefits over the 501?

Thanks!!!!

if you buy a sub/vt12 combo, you get a huge break fron Hsu direct. Don't pass it up - the last thing you want to do is to """save""" on speakers/subs. spend less on electronics.

BT,the VT12 will blow the bose system away any time any place.

You will not believe the sound of the VT12s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no wires come with it.

Do the right thing and spend your money wisely. Trust me, after awhile you want a Hsu sub - what are you going to sell your sub for? $00.00! So in reality you are wasting $122.00!!

What do i think on the subs? I am not understanding the question.
I have a STF2 & a STF3 (Max Ext) so I have two sets of VT12s. I also have 2 12" HSU car subs in my car.

Even the STF2 will blow your mind - it is a TRUE subwoofer and will put a smile on your face every time.

Dr Hsu uses the 501 as far as I know so if it is good enough for him it would be good enough for me. It is your call.

The 501 is a very good 6.1 reciever. The 502 adds component video switching, and the 601 adds dual room capability and more power.

There are also more small diffs. Go to www.onkyo.com to get the details.

The Ventriloquist is pretty unusual in that it comes with 6 surround speakers, so that the surround effects play a bit smoother than 5 channel sound. The surround effects will be there, just like in other systems.

CNET ranked the VT-12 #1 in the small speaker category, and I can attest that clarity is very good. You can hear lyrics and words that are muffled on other systems.

The subwoofer often makes the most noticable difference in a system. That is, even guests who can't tell the difference between good speakers and bad ones can notice a difference when a subwoofer is present. Also, I'd like to add that they are not as easy to "Do It Yourself" as many think. Our STF-1 would be an excellent performer in your room where you can't crank it up...even if you can the output level is very good.

No wires are included, but we sell a subwoofer interconnect. I recommend going to Home Depot for 16 gague wire.

I hope you decide to try HSU
