VTF-15H...tips ?
Question: newbie VTF-15h owner...
If i want more "oomph" from the sub, should i up the level within the receiver or turn the Volume up on the sub? When i ran Audyssey, it set the LFE to like -12db or so on the Onkyo level.....? hmm I have the volume on sub to 9 o'clock or so... I really like to feel the power.... thanks |

Hi jlm86,
If the channel level is set to -12 db, and your current setting on the subwoofer is 9 o'clock. Your best bet is to increase the channel level on your receiver. Try to get to 0 db, and adjust the subwoofer according to your tastes. |

Hi,
You may want to set your speakers to small. 80Hz is a good crossover setting when paired with our HB-1 Mk2 and HC-1 Mk2. Out of curiosity, what speakers are you using for your surrounds? |

Using Klipsch Surrounds ..Synergy B2 bookshelf...
There definitely is delicate balance in the configuration i am seeing... Should i adjust surround from the existing 40 hz setting? Am i just overriding the Audyssey calibration with all this manual adjustments? Don't really care i guess in the long run.. I think Pete Hsu (sp?) said to keep volume at 9 o'clock also, and leave there... Thanks so much! awesome help/support!! |

Interesting. The B2s are stated to go down to 62hz. You can adjust the rear surrounds to 80hz if you would like. It might not matter too much if you're just using it strictly for movie playback. Audyssey is not always that accurate.
9 o'clock position is a good starting point when setting up auto-calibration. Whether you leave it in that position or not depends on different things. |

If your sub level was set to -12 after Audessey calibration, then there's a good chance your calibration is flawed because for many receivers, -12 is the minimum setting.
I recommend turning down the volume on the sub and doing the calibration again. Try to get the calibration to set the sub level between -3 and +3 or so. If your receiver allows it, it may be easier to run just one point at a time until you get the volume on the sub set right. After calibration set all your speakers to crossover at 80 Hz. Audessey tends to overestimate the low frequency capabilities of speakers. More importantly, it uses many more calibration points for the sub, so you'll likely get cleaner mid-bass if you set everything to 80 Hz. After successful calibration, give things a listen, and if you still want more bass, adjust the sub level in the receiver to your preference. |
