picture of VTF3 corner stack for maximum SPL

I was experimenting with placement with my VTF3's, and I had heard about stacking them for some big output, so I decided to see for myself what would happen. After I stacked them, I ran the pods emerging scene from War of the Worlds (coming to blue ray on June 1rst, btw). I ran it at -0 on the volume dial, which is not something I normally do, and wow. It rattled the entire room, in fact, it shook the projector mount on the ceiling and loosened it, which made the picture sag!

It was so powerful that the top sub was vibrating off the bottom sub and would have fell over and crashed had I let the entire scene finish! It was mostly due to a piece of fabric I stuck between them so the feet didn't leave any marks on the top of the other sub, but still, you would think that the 90 lbs of the VTF3 would be enough to make it stay put!

Anyway, it was fun for the brief moment it lasted, but it was too scary looking to last, so I took it down, but not before taking the below picture. I next moved the top VTF3 to the side of my couch, with the driver facing the seating, as the guys at Hsu sometimes recommend, and was something I hadn't done before. Wow, that is a really great place! I rocked War of the Worlds again (but not at reference, I was too scared to do that again) sitting right next to the sub, and you can really feel that bass hitting you! This is where it has found its permanent residency!

Wow, that is an impressive tower shadyJ, thanks for sharing! First time I've ever seen anything like that!

So right now you are placing one sub in the front corner and one in the nearfield, correct? What tuning mode are you using?

Thanks

One in the front and another near field, correct. They are in max extension mode now, as I hardly need the extra output. There are a few more things I want to try to get the very best out of the subwoofers, but these things work brilliantly as an endtable piece though, and my initial reaction is surprise at how powerfully it can be felt and also how good it sounded. I have some more listening to do, but you guys are right, nearfield bass is no joke. I can't wait to do some more listening tomorrow!

Thumbs up

Wow shadyJ, congratulations! Good news to hear that, unfortunately for space limitations I can't to tray this option.
