I would take it back. EQ-ing the sub is very important not to mention that the other speakers need to be EQ-ed as well and the pioneer will not EQ any speakers below 62Hz.

the sms-1 is the equivalent of Audyssey XT32 for the subs only. getting an AVR with XT32 will do for your sub(s) exactly the same as the SMS, but it will also eq your speakers. The Onkyo 818 is currently the least expensive AVR with XT32. I snagged one in a very limited promotion from B + H for $599. Note that it does not offer Sub EQ HT (pings 2 subs separately), but there are workarounds... Also, with new Onkyo offerings coming soon, that price will come back. sometime. from somewhere. maybe even better .

I had an SMS-1 when I had my Pioneer Elite VSX-92TXH. I manually EQ-ed the sub and it sounded great, but unfortunately since Pioneers only EQs all speakers down to 62 or 63Hz things will never be quite right. Speakers need to be EQ-ed down to 20Hz. After selling the Pioneer and getting the Anthem MRX300 with ARC that EQs all speakers including the sub to 20Hz I sold the SMS-1. My system has never sounded better.

You may want to look at anti-mode 8033.
Some think the MCAA does a better job in the mids and some feel XT-32 to be the end all myself like a lot of posters choose to set it up manually do to the fact the room correction will sometimes set crossovers wrong or phase wrong IMO room correction still has a way to go before I will fully trust it.
