Receiver Opinions needed

Hi, I just ordered the VT-12 6.1 speaker set after reading about a thousand glowing reviews and now have a ton of dumb questions.

1) I am just setting up my system now and my next purchace is going to be a receiver. I am currently looking at the Yamaha 5760 (RX-650 I believe its also called) or the Pioneer VS-X 1014. The Yamaha is slightly cheaper but the Pioneer is THX certified (whatever that means). I like both the Yamaha and the Pioneer for its automatic sound setup. So I'm looking for opinons on what you guys think sounds better with the VT-12. I will be using it for about 80% movies and 20% music.

2) Also on my limited budget I will have to limp along on my junky sony subwoofer for about 6 months... Do you see any problem with this?

3) I read a bunch of places that I could also send my room dimensions in and HSU would tell me optimal speaker placement. Is that something I post here? I am currently in the middle of finishing my basement and need some opinion before I finish her up.

Thanks a ton in advance.

I can't speak for the Yamaha, but I can say tons for the 1014. Before I settled on it, I tried two other receivers. The 1014 was hands down the best of the trio. The Auto MACC set-up is dead on and worthy of the hype machine. It's the biggest, and heaviest receiver I have ever own. You know what they say about big receivers (more power). I got a good deal from J&R for 399.00, shipping included. To hear more of the hype, go to the AVS Forum and find the receiver forum. You can't miss the postings for the 1014.

I've got the vt-12 with the yamaha 650, and am quite happy with it.

Donno about the Pio thou. However, for its price, I think the Yamaha has the best quality. And be asure that it matches very well with the vt12.
