which sub to complement my vtf3 mk3

hello everyone! I have a vtf3 mk3 and want to buy another sub to complement it in my 5500cubic foot finished basement. is the vtf2 mk5 what I need? thanks in advance

I think the simple answer here is you should try to match what you have, but that will prove difficult unless you either find another VTF-3 Mk3 on the used market or you're willing to buy two new VTF-2 Mk5 subs.

It would be pretty close, in that I would say the VTF-2 Mk5 would likely work well. Though, because the VTF-3 Mk3 has a larger enclosure and bigger cross sectional area of the ports, it would be able to play louder and cleaner in the sub 20 Hz bass. So there might be somewhat of a bottleneck there with the VTF-2 Mk5. If you're worried about that, the VTF-3 Mk5 HP would be the better bet as it will be able to play louder and cleaner pretty much across the board.
